Everyone in the band was a fan of The Beatles (well, who isn't?) and they'd heard a story that Paul McCartney, whenever he checked in a hotel, would say his name was Paul Ramone, so the punks decided to adopt this last name as theirs.

There we go, nice and simple, right?
